Chapter 3. Where to Get Help > The Internet and AOL

The Internet and AOL

Virtually all hardware and software companies have Web sites, and most have some type of online help. If you don't know the Web address of the company, you can guess. Dell is www.dell.com, Compaq is www.compaq.com, and so on. If that doesn't work, try using an Internet search engine like Google (www.google.com) to look up the company by name. When you get to the Web site, look for a Support option. Some Web sites have search features where you can enter a question. Also look for a list of “Frequently Asked Questions” (often referred to as a “FAQ”), which may answer your inquiry before you have to ask it. Finally, Web sites sometimes have forums where customers ask each other questions or get answers from company staff.
