Chapter 29. Using the Taskbar > The Quick Launch Toolbar

The Quick Launch Toolbar

As you know, the Start menu is your main portal for launching applications. But there's an optional toolbar, called Quick Launch, that you can install on your taskbar so you can launch programs (or open folders) from there. The Quick Launch Toolbar stores icons (shortcuts, actually) for any programs, folders, or files you tell it to. Then when you want to launch them, you don't have to go through even the minor inconvenience of opening the Start menu.

To add the Quick Launch Toolbar, right-click any portion of the taskbar where there's no icon showing (usually the “blank” blue area). That brings up a menu. Left-click the word Toolbars and then left-click Quick Launch.
