Chapter 51. Safety, Privacy, and Security > Protection from Scam Artists

Protection from Scam Artists

I wish there were a piece of software that could protect you from scam artists, but unfortunately that's up to you. My best advice is simple: If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Be very careful about any offers you get by email or come across on the Web, unless they're from a reputable source that you know and trust. I don't think anyone is trying to sell swamp land in Florida anymore, but there are all sorts of other dodgy offers out there, ranging from a hot stock that's about to make a few people rich to some miracle diet or cure.
