Using Toolbars

Windows and many Windows programs feature a row of buttons across the top of their windows called a toolbar. Toolbars let you carry out commonly used commands by simply clicking once on the button.

The commands that the buttons represent change from window to window (they generally let you carry out the most common tasks for that window), but you'll see many of the same buttons in many different windows. Sometimes, you can find out what a button does by just pointing at it (without clicking) for a second. A tiny box, called a ToolTip, will pop up, naming the command that the button executes. But sometimes this doesn't happen.
