Working with Dialog Boxes

The Open dialog box.

Sometimes Windows or an application program will need more information from you before it executes a command. In that case, a dialog box will appear after you issue the command, supplying a place where you can provide that information. When a menu command has three dots following its name, that means it has a dialog box associated with it.
