Part 1: Getting Oriented > Setting Up Your Workplace

Chapter 24. Setting Up Your Workplace

One of the most important things to think about before you sit down at your computer is just how you're going to sit down at your computer.

You can get away with plopping a PC on a table or desk, plugging it into the wall, and sitting down any which way to type. But making things pleasant and comfortable takes some thought. And it's more important than you might think. You can actually hurt yourself if you don't have your computer set up correctly. Typing for hours in an uncomfortable hunch over the keyboard can cause neck and back pain, eyestrain, and painful injury to your wrists. In this chapter, I'll tell you how to set up a workspace that's safe and comfortable for both you and your computer.
