Email

For everyone other than AOL users there are basically two ways to send and receive email within Windows XP. You can use an email program like Outlook Express (which comes with XP), Outlook (which comes with Microsoft Office), or Eudora (which you can download), or you can send and receive your email from a Web site like Microsoft's Hotmail, Excite, or Yahoo.

Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook

As you might suspect, Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook appear to be pretty similar. The interfaces look almost the same, and both offer easy-to-use email programs that are powerful enough for most users. The main difference between the programs is that Microsoft Outlook, which does not come with Windows but does come with some versions of Microsoft Office, also has a calendar, a contact-management system, and some other features.
