Chapter 45. Digital Photography > Photo-Editing Programs

Photo-Editing Programs

Once you've imported the pictures to your PC, you can work with them using tools built into the operating system or a third-party photo-editing program. Most digital cameras come with a free editing program so before you buy anything see what you already have. It may be perfectly adequate.

As you might expect, there are many photo-editing programs that you can buy, such as Paint Shop Pro from Jasc Software, PhotoDeluxe from Adobe Systems, and PictureIt from Microsoft. All of these programs let you clean up scanned snapshots, eliminate red-eye, get rid of scratches, and correct for color, sharpness, brightness, and contrast. Some, like Adobe's PhotoDeluxe, have templates and other features that you can use to create greeting cards, banners, calendars, and other projects.
