What Is Different About AppleScript in Mac OS X

Now, for the strong of heart, the news about what has changed in AppleScript 1.7 for Mac OS X. Because Mac OS X is a new operating system with radically different underpinnings from those of Mac OS 9.2.1, AppleScript needed to change in Mac OS X to accommodate the new OS's functionalities and requirements. Because of the differences between AppleScript in Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.2.1, you sometimes will need to include code in your own scripts to check the version of AppleScript.
