Chapter 7. Applescript & Mac OS X 10.1 > Adding Scripts to the Finder's Toolbar

Adding Scripts to the Finder's Toolbar

The Finder in Mac OS X 10.1 supports an innovative new user-interface feature for accessing AppleScript applets and droplets. This feature is called Toolbar Scripts by Apple. The name sums it up. You can drag any applet or droplet onto your Finder's toolbar to place it there and remove it by holding and dragging it off the toolbar.

The functionality of Toolbar Scripts helps make up for Mac OS X's lack of folder action script support. Script 9 shows a sample Toolbar Script that archives the frontmost Finder folder, adding the user name and date.
