Scheduling Scripts with cron and osascript

Now that you have the power of Unix inside your operating system, you can take advantage of it. Mac OS X features some basic, but useful, Unix command-line commands that provide access to AppleScript from Unix. The commands include:

  • osascript executes a compiled AppleScript file from the command line or cron.

  • osacompile lets you create compiled scripts from text.

  • osalang prints information about OSA languages.
