Selecting and Replacing Text Using the Keyboard

To select text for formatting or editing, you can use a combination of keys. To replace text in a document or in a text box in a dialog box, you can always select the text and simply type over it. The characters that are selected will be replaced when you begin typing.

To select text using the keyboard:

1.
Use the arrow keys to position the insertion point in front of the first character.

2.
Press and hold the Shift key and use the arrow keys to move the insertion point to the end of the last word in the text you want to select.
