The Steps to a PowerPoint Presentation

Getting started building a presentation

PowerPoint offers not one, but several different ways to start a presentation, including various design and content templates and an AutoContent Wizard that let you choose a presentation outline first.

Creating the slides

You can develop the slides in Normal view with the Outline pane displayed, where you can see each slide along with the full outline in side-by-side window panes. You can also generate slides one at a time, typing text into special text placeholders on the slides as you go. Creating slides using PowerPoint is no more difficult than filling in the blanks. If you’ve outlined your presentation in Word, you can even transfer the outline to a new PowerPoint presentation automatically.
