Adding Shading to a Range

Shading can make your spreadsheet easier to understand.

To add shading to a cell or range of cells:

1.
Select the range to which you want to add shading (Figure 13.19).

From the Format menu, choose Cells, or right-click and choose Format Cells from the shortcut menu.

3.
On the Patterns tab of the Format Cells dialog box, choose a color or shade of gray.

4.
To choose a monochrome pattern, pull down the list of patterns and choose one of the patterns at the top of the palette (Figure 13.20).

Click OK. The range is shaded (Figure 13.21).
