Using the Ruler to Indent Paragraphs

The easiest and most direct way to change the indents of paragraphs is by dragging the indent markers on the ruler.

To indent paragraphs using the ruler:

1.
Click in or select the paragraph or paragraphs to be formatted (Figure 5.20).

Drag the left indent marker to set the left indent of all of the lines in the paragraph except the first line (Figure 5.21).

Drag the rectangular button below the left indent marker to move the first line indent and the left indent markers simultaneously and maintain their relative positions (Figure 5.22).

Drag the right indent marker to set the right indent (Figure 5.23).
