Expanding and Condensing Character Spacing

Character spacing is the space between letters in words. You can uniformly increase or decrease this space to stretch or compress text.

To expand or condense character spacing:

1.
Select the text to format (Figure 5.10).

From the Format menu, choose Font to open the Font dialog box.

On the Character Spacing tab of the Font dialog box, click the up or down arrow next to the By text box to expand or condense the character spacing (Figure 5.11).
