AutoFormatting a Document

If you apply AutoFormatting to a document, Word analyzes the document and applies styles to the text. AutoFormatting also removes extra paragraph marks, replaces indents created using spaces or tabs with paragraph indents, replaces asterisks or hyphens in bulleted lists with real bullets, and replaces (C), (R), and (TM) with copyright, registered trademark, and trademark symbols.

To AutoFormat a document:

1.
From the Format menu, choose AutoFormat (Figure 6.18).

In the AutoFormat dialog box, select a document type from the drop-down list (Figure 6.19).

Click OK.
