Chapter 17. Excel and theWeb > Running a Web Query

Running a Web Query

You can use a Web query to retrieve data from a Web page instead of the entire contents of the page. You can then analyze the data in Excel.

To run a Web query:

1.
From the Data menu, choose Import External Data, and then choose New Web Query from the submenu.

2.
In the New Web Query dialog box, type the Web address (URL) or use the arrow to select a previous address and click Go (Figure 17.4).

Figure 17.4. Enter the address in the New Web Query dialog box.

3.
When you reach the page on the Web, click the arrows to select specific tables to import and click Import.

4.
In the Import Data dialog box, specify a destination for the query results (Figure 17.5).

5.
Click OK.
