Building a Simple Formula

As you build a formula, you can type in values or select cell references from anywhere in a workbook.

To build a simple formula:

1.
Click the destination cell for the formula and type an equal sign (Figure 11.20).

2.
Click the first cell whose address you want in the formula (Figure 11.21).

3.
Type an operator. Table 11.2 lists the available operators and their functions.

4.
Click the next cell whose address should appear in the formula (Figure 11.22).

5.
Type another operator and continue building the formula.

or

Press Enter to enter the formula in the cell and display the result of the calculation (Figure 11.23).
