Averaging Numbers Using the Average Function

You can use the Average function to calculate the average of values in cells.

To average selected numbers:

1.
Click the destination cel for the formula that will calculate the average.

2.
Type an equal sign and then type the word average and a left parenthesis (Shift+9) (Figure 11.34).

Choose Average from the AutoSum drop-down list (Figure 11.35).

Drag across the cells whose values you want to average (Figure 11.36).

Press Enter to complete the formula.
