Turning On Paragraph Marks

If paragraph marks are turned on, you’ll see a paragraph mark (¶) wherever you press Enter at the end of a paragraph, a dot wherever you press the Spacebar, and other symbols that indicate nonprinting characters in your document. These marks can help you understand the formatting in your document (Figure 4.8). Table 4.1 lists these nonprinting characters.

To turn on paragraph marks:

  • On the Standard toolbar, click the Show/Hide ¶ button (Figure 4.9).

Tip

  • You can click the Show/Hide ¶ button again to turn off paragraph marks or press Ctrl+Shift+8.
