Starting a Table

You can create the table structure before you enter any text, or you can convert text you’ve already created to a table. There’s an easy way to create the structure for a simple table and a way to create a more complex table. We’ll talk about both in the next two sections.

To create the structure for a simple table:

1.
Position the insertion point at the location for the table.

Click the Insert Table button on the Standard toolbar (Figure 7.3).

Drag across the number of columns and down the number of rows you want (Figure 7.4).

An unformatted table appears (Figure 7.5).
