Controlling Office XP with Voice Commands

With Office XP’s new speech recognition capabilities and a microphone,, you can control your computer by speaking certain commands.

Using voice commands:

1.
On Word’s Tools menu, choose Speech.

If Speech Recognition isn’t installed, you will be prompted whether to install it (Figure 1.23).

2.
On the Language bar, click Microphone if it is not already turned on (Figure 1.24).

On the Language bar, click Voice Command (Figure 1.24).

or

Say “voice command.”

4.
Say the name of a toolbar button, menu, command, tab in a dialog box, or keyboard key, such as “enter” or “space,” or say “close” to close a dialog box.

You’ll see the name of the command on the Language bar (Figure 1.25).
