Chapter 10. Networking & Telecomm > Networking & Telecommunications

Networking & Telecommunications

Mac OS computers offer two ways to connect to other computers:

  • Networking uses direct connections and network protocols to connect your computer to others on a network. Once connected, you can share files, access e-mail, and run special network applications on server computers.

  • Telecommunications uses a modem, telephone line, and communications software to connect your computer to another com-puter. Once connected, you can exchange files, access e-mail, and work with other features offered by the host computer.
