Chapter 10. Using Sherlock  > Searching for People

Searching for People

If you have Internet access, you can use Sherlock to find the contact information for people you know. This feature searches the entries in several popular e-mail directories to find matches.

To search for a person

1.
Click the People channel button at the top of the Sherlock window (Figure 5) or press to display Sherlock's People channel.

2.
Enter the complete name for the person in the text field near the top of the window (Figure 36).

3.
Turn on the check box beside each search site you want to use to search.

4.
Click the magnifying glass button to begin the search. Sherlock searches the directories you selected, displaying its status while it works.

5.
After a moment, the matches begin to appear. You can begin working with matches immediately or wait until Sherlock has finished searching (Figure 37).

Figure 37. Sherlock displays a list of all matches for the name you entered. (Please do not dial these phone numbers; they're not mine!)

6.
To get all the information about a matched item, click it once. The information appears in the area beneath the list (Figure 38).

Figure 38. Click an item to see its details in the bottom of the window. (Please do not bother this person. She is not me!)
