Pop-up Windows

The pop-up windows feature changes the appearance and functionality of a window by adding a tab and hiding the window at the very bottom of the screen. Click the tab to display the window (Figure 16). Click either outside the window or on the tab to hide the window again (Figure 17).

Tip

This feature makes it easy to keep frequently used windows handy without letting them clutter up the screen.


To turn a window into a pop-up window

1.
Activate the window that you want to turn into a pop-up window.

Choose View > as Pop-up Window (Figure 18). The window changes to a pop-up window (Figure 16).

Drag the window's title bar to the bottom of the screen. When a tab shape appears at the top of its gray outline (Figure 19), release the mouse button. The window changes into a pop-up window tab (Figure 17).

To activate or deactivate a pop-up window

Click the tab at the top of the window.

If the window is active (fully visible) when you click its tab, it disappears, displaying only a tab at the bottom of the screen (Figure 17).

If the window is inactive (displayed as a tab) when you click its tab, it appears (Figure 16).

Tip

You can also deactivate a pop-up window by clicking anywhere outside the window frame.


To resize a pop-up window

1.
Position the mouse pointer on one of the top corners of the active pop-up window (Figure 20).

Drag to make the window larger or smaller. As you drag, a dotted line border indicates the new edges of the window (Figure 21).

Release the mouse button. The window resizes (Figure 22).

To turn a pop-up window into a standard window

1.
Activate the pop-up window that you want to turn into a standard window.

Choose View > as Window (Figure 23). The window changes to a standard window.

Position the mouse pointer on the tab of the pop-up window and drag up until the tab disappears from the gray outline of the window (Figure 24). Release the mouse button. The window changes to a standard window.
