When trying to turn on file sharing, you get a message that says "File sharing could not be enabled" or the file sharing startup simply never finishes.
The file sharing option does not appear in the File Sharing control panel window.
When trying to connect to another Macintosh, you get a message that says the shared disk could not be opened because it "could not be found on the network."
