Troubleshooting SCSI-Related Problems

If you are having any problems with SCSI devices, from a device that will not mount (or be recognized by the software designed to work with it) to system crashes (especially "bus errors") at startup due to SCSI problems, here is a brief "checklist" of what to do:

General advice Always shut off the Macintosh and all SCSI devices before disconnecting or reconnecting any SCSI devices. Otherwise, you could damage your hardware. Restart after each change to test its effect.
