Before getting to the Disk Defragmenter details, here's a bit of prep work you need to do: · Log on to Windows XP with Administrator-level privileges. · Shut down all running programs. · Run the Check Disk program to be sure there are no errors on your hard disk. In particular, be sure you activate the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box. · Run Disk Cleanup and get rid of any files you don't need. Here's how Disk Defragmenter works: 1. You can get underway by using either of the following techniques: · In My Computer, highlight your hard disk and select File, Properties. (Or right-click the hard disk and then click Properties.)
