New News Is Good News: New Windows XP Features 5 · The Start menu--The Start menu offers what may well be the biggest "look-and-feel" difference between XP and the Windows versions of yore. As you can see in Figure 1.2, clicking Start produces a menu that's unlike anything you've seen before. The icons on the left side offer one- click access to programs: Internet and E-mail are permanent members, and then cast of icons below them represent the programs you launch most often. The icons on the right side give you easy access to folders (such as My Documents) and XP features (such as the Control Panel). All your other programs and XP doodads are accessible via the All Programs icon.
