Lesson Review

Use the following questions to review what you have learned:

1:List some top-level folders in Mac OS X.
2:What kind of hardware must your computer have in order to burn optical media?
3:What two quick fixes are appropriate to consider when troubleshooting local file system issues?

Answers

A1: /Applications, /Library, /System, and /Users.
A2: Apple has two internal optical drives for burning media, a SuperDrive and a Combo drive. The Combo drive can be used for burning CDs or reading DVDs. The SuperDrive can be used for reading or burning DVDs or CDs. There are various third-party CD and DVD burners on the market, although you should check their compatibility before purchasing. For example, some third-party DVD burners may work with Disk Utility or DVD Studio Pro, but not iDVD.
A3: Repair with Disk Utility; use Target Disk Mode to verify/install OS.
