Lesson 7. Understanding Print Service > Managing Print Service

Managing Print Service

Once you have created print queues and shared them, you can use Server Admin to manage them. Sometimes you may need to put a hold on an entire queue, so that you can take a printer offline temporarily but still allow jobs to queue up. Other times, you might need to stop or delete certain print jobs in a queue but allow other jobs to print. You use the Queues pane and the Jobs pane, respectively, for those tasks.

Managing Print Queues

The Queues pane provides a summary of information about each queue, including the number of jobs inside that queue and the status of the queue itself. To see the Queues pane, click the Queues button at the bottom of the Print service window. You can stop the queue by selecting the queue and clicking the Stop button (the square icon). To restart the queue, click the Start button (the triangle icon).
