Lesson 9. Managing Accounts > Managing Network Browsing

Managing Network Browsing

In the Finder, a user can open the /Network folder to browse for network servers. Typically all network services that announce or publish themselves do so using Bonjour, SLP, or AppleTalk. In Mac OS X Server v10.4 you can configure and customize this user experience to show the user exactly what you want him or her to see.

The Network Option in Workgroup Manager creates entries in the server's directory that will be displayed to clients of the directory when they attempt to access the /Network folder or browse the network. This managed network-browsing feature allows you to customize the user's view of what is on the network.
