Creating Custom Packages

In this section, you will use PackageMaker to create a custom package, and then add files to the package. First you must install the Developer Tools on your Mac OS X server.

1.
On your Mac OS X Server computer, double-click the Developer Tools package located in /Users/Shared/Student_Materials/MacOSX_Software and install the tools.

Before you configure your custom install package, you must create a folder to store the files you will be including in the package.

2.
In the Finder on the server, navigate to the /Users/Shared folder, create a new folder, and name it custompackage.

3.
Copy the contents of /Users/Shared/Student_Materials/Lesson10 into /Users/Shared/custompackage.

These are the files you will include in the package.

4.
Create two subfolders, Library and Users, in custompackage.

This step is to mirror the /Library and /Users folders.

5.
Create a subfolder in Library called Fonts and a subfolder in Users called Shared.

These folders will store the fonts you will install and PretendCo_Biz_Plan.rtf.

6.
Copy the font files to the newly created /custompackage/Library/Fonts folder.

7.
Copy PretendCo_Biz_Plan.rtf into the /custompackage/Users/Shared folder.
