Formatting an XML Document

The most important thing to remember about an XML document is that data is data! That is, the content of your document is of primary concern. If the structure and elements are well-formed and valid, you or anyone can use that data and display or present it in a variety of formats, or layouts.

Understanding XML Layouts

In a typical XML process, the document itself and the DTD don't concern themselves at all with how the document is to be formatted. All they care about is making the document content useable.
