Chapter 26. Using Experts and Macros > Using the Pleading Experts

Using the Pleading Experts

New in WordPerfect 11 (and included in WordPerfect 12), the pleading experts help you put together pleading documents quickly and easily. In general terms, a pleading is every legal document filed in a lawsuit, petition, motion, or hearing. They set out the facts and legal arguments that support that party's position. Pleadings are required by state or federal statutes and court rules to be in a particular form and format: typed, signed, and dated with the name of the court, title, and number of the case, and contact information for the attorney or person acting for him/herself included. In other words, pleading documents are created for virtually every type of case and must follow a strict set of formatting rules.

NOTE

The Legal Tools are not installed during a typical installation. If you don't have a Legal Tools option on your Tools menu, they haven't been installed yet. Choose Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Select WordPerfect Office 11 (or 12), and then click the Change button. Choose Change Which Program Features Are Installed, and then click Next. If necessary, click the plus sign next to WordPerfect Office 11 (or 12) to open the tree. Click the plus sign next to WordPerfect. Click the button next to Legal Tools and choose This Feature Will Be Installed on Local Hard Drive. Choose Next, and then Begin. Choose Finish to close the Install Wizard.
