In the “Saving Documents” section, I talked about the Timed Document Backup feature and how it's turned on and set to make backups of your documents every 10 minutes. In the event of a system crash, the most you stand to lose is 10 minutes of work (or less, if you decrease the backup interval). You might be wondering how you can get to this backup file if your system locks up. Here's how it works:

If you fail to exit WordPerfect properly, the next time you start the program, you'll see a message box, telling you that you have a backup file available (see Figure 1.18). You have to choose one of the three options before you can get into the program.
