Chapter 21. Organizing Notes with OneNote > Creating Screen Clippings

Creating Screen Clippings

Using screen clippings is a great way to collect snippets of text and graphics from anywhere on your screen and insert them into your notes. For example, you can capture a portion of a document or Web site, insert it into your notes, and highlight or annotate important sections of the clipping for later reference. Note that if the snippet contains text, it is still stored as a graphic, so OneNote will not be able to retrieve it by searching on its text content. However, you can add your own text description to the clipping to help you search for and find it later.

Create Screen Clippings

Display the screen from which you plan to create the clipping.

Switch to OneNote and position the cursor at the point where you would like the clip to be inserted.

Click the Insert menu, and then click Screen Clipping.

Drag a rectangle with the mouse or pen over the region of the screen to include in the clip.

The clip will be inserted into your note and copied to the Clipboard.
