Chapter 21. Organizing Notes with OneNote > Inserting Pictures and Documents

Inserting Pictures and Documents

You can easily import pictures, documents, and files into OneNote. This enables you to annotate them as part of your notes. For example, if you have a file with an X-ray image, you can incorporate it into your notes and annotate it as you prepare for a presentation or lecture. Note that if you insert a document, such as a Word or Excel document, OneNote creates an image of that document and inserts it as a graphic. OneNote will not be able to retrieve such a graphic by searching on its textual content. However, you can add your own text description to the graphic to help you search for and find it later.

Insert a Picture

Click the Insert menu.

Point to Picture.

Click From File.

Open the folder with the picture you want to insert.

Click the picture you want to use.

Click Insert.

You can optionally annotate the picture after inserting it.
