Working with Solver Models

Excel attaches your most recent Solver parameters to the worksheet when you save it. If you want to save different sets of parameters, you can do so by following these steps:

1.
Choose Tools, Solver to display the Solver Parameters dialog box.

2.
Enter the parameters you want to save.

3.
Click Options to display the Solver Options dialog box.

4.
Enter the options you want to save.

5.
Click Save Model. Solver displays the Save Model dialog box to prompt you to enter a range in which to store the model.

6.
Enter the range in the Select Model Area box. Note that you don't need to specify the entire area—just the first cell. Keep in mind that Solver displays the data in a column, so pick a cell with enough empty space below it to hold all the data. You'll need one cell for the target cell reference, one for the changing cells, one for each constraint, and one to hold the array of Solver options.

7.
Click OK. Solver gathers the data, enters it into your selected range, and then returns you to the Solver Options dialog box.
