Chapter 2. Working with Simple Documents > Opening an Existing Document

Opening an Existing Document

To view, edit or update an existing Word document, you can simply open that document. The document may be stored in your My Documents folder (the default location for files you create in Word), in a folder you specified when you saved the file, or on a file server. Regardless of where the file is located, the steps to open it are the same.

Open an Existing Document

Click the Open button on the Standard toolbar.

Click an icon on the Places bar to open a frequently used folder. n

If necessary, click the Look In list arrow, and then click the drive where the file is located.

Double-click the folder in which the file is stored.n

Click the file you want to open, and then click Open.n
