Chapter 12. Working with E-Mail and Faxes > Sending a Document as a Fax

Sending a Document as a Fax

If you have hardware and software installed on your computer to send and receive faxes, you can fax a document directly from Word using the Fax Wizard. The Fax Wizard makes it easy to create a cover sheet and send a document as a fax. The wizard steps you through the entire process, asking you questions about the document you want to use, fax program, recipients, and cover sheet. If you use Microsoft Fax, the service is typically configured so that you can't use your own cover sheet.

Send a Document as a Fax

Open the document you want to send as a fax.

Click the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Recipient Using A Fax Modem.

Read the introduction, click Next, click a cover sheet option, and then click Next.

Depending on your fax program and the options you select, your steps will differ.

Select a fax program, and then click Next.

Specify the recipient's names and fax numbers to whom you want to fax, and then click Next.

If necessary, specify the recipients you want to use, and then click Next.

If you selected to use a cover sheet, select a style, and then click Next.

Specify your name, company, mailing address, phone and fax, and then click Next.

When you complete the wizard, click Finish.

Modify the fax template, and then send it using your faxing program.
