Customizing the Way You Work

You can customize several settings in the Word work environment to suit the way you like to work. You can customize the performance of many Word features including its editing, saving, spelling, viewing, and printing procedures. You can also change security, track changes, user information, and file compatibility settings.

Change General Options

Click the Tools menu, and then click Options.

Click the General tab.

Select or clear the general options you want. Some of the common options include:

  • Recently Used File List. Displays most recently used files on the File menu.

  • Measurement Units. Selects the default measurement unit for the ruler and dialog boxes.

Click OK.
