Chapter 3. Designing a Look > Viewing Masters

Viewing Masters

If you want to change the appearance of each instance of a slide element, such as all the title fonts or all the bullet characters, you don't have to change every slide individually. Instead, you can change them all at once using a Master. PowerPoint updates the existing slides, and then applies your settings to any slides you add. Which master you open depends on what part of your presentation you want to change. The Slide Master controls all slides that do not use the Title Slide AutoLayout, while the Title Master controls the look of your title slide.

View the Slide Master

Click the View menu, point to Master, and then click Slide Master.

Click the Close Master View button on the Slide Master View toolbar.

TIMESAVER You can view a master quickly. Press and hold the Shift key, point to a view button to determine the master, and then click a view button to go to a master view.
