Chapter 10. Creating and Organizing Note... > Creating Tasks, Appointments, and Me...

Creating Tasks, Appointments, and Messages from Notes

You can convert a note to another Outlook item, such as a task, an appointment, or a new e-mail message. For instance, suppose you create a note to remind yourself to review a report. The day goes on, you become too busy to review the report, and you decide to convert the note to a task so that it appears in your to-do list for the following day. To convert a note to a new task, appointment, or e-mail message, you drag the note to the Tasks, Calendar, or Mail button on the Navigation pane. When a new Task, Appointment, or Message dialog box opens, it includes the note text, with the note name in the Subject box. The original note remains in the Notes folder after you create a new item; the original note and the new item are not linked in any way. For example, if you add details to a task that's been created from a note, the changes will not be reflected in the original note.
