Chapter 14. Tools for Working More Efficiently > Playing Back Worksheet Data

Playing Back Worksheet Data

With Excel, you can have the computer read back data entered on a worksheet. The Text To Speech toolbar gives you options to read back data you select on a worksheet for verification. You can hear the contents of all the cells in a worksheet continuously or each individual cell after you enter data in it. Each cell is selected by row or column and the value or formula is read by the computer. If you hear an error or you're done listening to the data, you can stop the computer from speaking at any time.

Speak the Value of Cells

Click the Tools menu, point to Speech, and then click Show Text To Speech Toolbar.

Select the group of cells you want to hear spoken.

Click the By Rows button or By Columns button on the Text To Speech toolbar to indicate how you want the computer to read the cells in the worksheet.

Click the Speak Cells button on the Text To Speech toolbar. The computer reads the value of the current cells and moves to the next one.

When you're done, click the Stop Speaking button on the Text To Speech toolbar, and then click the Close button.
