Chapter 5. Using the Writing Tools > Switching to a Different Language

Switching to a Different Language

We are truly working in a global marketplace. It’s not unusual to work with individuals and companies from all over the world. So, when you write in a different language, you need to be able to do more than just enter, display, and print the non-English characters. You also need to be able to correct spelling, check grammar, use proper punctuation, and implement the correct sorting conventions. Two add-in products are available to provide support for other languages:

  • You can purchase the Microsoft Office 2003 Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Pack and change the user interface and help files so that the menus, prompts, wizards, templates, and help topics are all in that language.

  • The Microsoft Office 2003 MUI Pack also includes Microsoft 2003 Proofing Tools, which enables you to get proofing tools for more than 30 different languages. You can use fonts, spelling and grammar checkers, AutoCorrect lists, AutoSummarize rules, translation dictionaries, and other tools that help you create and edit Word documents in the language of your choice.
