Working with Lists

For most of us, when we need to make a list, we type a number, enter the text, type the next number, enter more text, and so on. We have a nice list when we’re done, but no way to rearrange the entries without renumbering everything. I don’t know about you, but when I’m creating a to-do list, I just try to get everything typed in; then I go back and prioritize the items.

Word’s list and outline features enable you to create lists and outlines that are automatically numbered as you create them. When you go back and start moving things around, the numbering is automatically updated. Creating lists the “manual” way doesn’t make sense when you have an automatic method that is faster and more accurate.
