Protecting Your System from Macro Viruses

We’ve all heard about the latest virus being unleashed on the Internet. Computer viruses spread rapidly in an environment of email messages with attached documents. The best protection you can have against viruses is a good antivirus program. Word has some built-in controls to help prevent further risk of virus infection in Word files.

A macro virus is a type of computer virus that is stored in a macro, either within a file, a template, or an “add-in,” which is essentially a third-party utility that you can use with Word. To protect your system, you should increase your level of security and open files only from trusted sources.
