Chapter 12. Letting Action Settings Work... > Using PowerPoint to Launch Actions

Using PowerPoint to Launch Actions

No longer are you forced to march through a presentation one step at a time. With PowerPoint, you can create a variety of action settings that enable you to move around freely. You can associate action settings with nearly any PowerPoint object, so that when you click the object during a slide presentation, the specified action takes place.

Creating Slide Navigation Tools

One of the most useful applications for action settings is for slide show navigation. If you’re moving from Slide 1, to Slide 2, and so on, getting lost isn’t too likely, and having ways to find where you are isn’t terribly important. But suppose you have a slide that can take a discussion in several different directions. The topics slide in Figure 12.1 is an example of such a slide.
